Living the crazy life

We are so happy to be in our new house. I love every moment of it. One of the best things about where we live are our awesome neighbours. We love the couple across the street who are in their late 60's, Dennis and Joan. Even before we had closed on the house they came over while we were doing the inspection and gave us lots of information about the area. They also got our phone number and called us a few times to see if we needed anything. (Before we could close we had to do some painting on the exterior because of pealing paint. With FHA loans they are strict and there was no way around this. Usually the seller takes care of things like this, but in our case we were working with a relocation company based on the East coast and they were selling the house "as-is". So we either had to get a loan that didn't require such a strict appraisal or go paint.) We needed a ladder and Dennis let us borrow his, which worked perfectly. The day we moved in he cleared our driveway of snow and has everyday since that except for one day that I beat him to it. They got us a ward directory and have told us about every person that lives on the street. They are the kind of people who I wish I could be more like. We are so lucky to have them as neighbours.

Other than that life has been extremely crazy this past week. We moved most of our stuff on the 29th of January but left enough there that is was a pain to figure out how to get it here. Once Jeff started his February rotation he was completely out of the picture. One evening I went and packed everything else up, and then after a busy day at work for Jeff we ventured to move everything else at 8:00pm with the kids in tow. I managed to forget the keys to the apartment and had to run back to the house, but eventually we got everything out. When we got home we were too tired to unpack it all, so I ended up doing it the next day. That night I had to go clean the apartment after the kids were in bed. Then the next morning I checked out of the apartment for good (yeah! goodbye forever!). But when I returned home to unpacked boxes and cranky kids the euphoric feeling was gone. To make things worse the comcast cable guy came to fix some things and was here for 3 hours!!!!!!! And he was rude, stinky, and sort of scary. I couldn't leave. Hannah couldn't nap because of his banging. I honestly couldn't figure out what was taking him so long. It was awful.

Since then we've managed to unpack a lot and Jeff has a day off tomorrow (Yes!!!) so hopefully we can get a lot done. We're anxious for the snow to melt so we can see what our yard looks like. We sort of had to have faith it wasn't too bad.

Anyway sorry for the babbling, just wanted to give an update. We can't wait to have everyone over. So call us up if you're in the area.

Your neighbors do sound really awesome, I'm so glad you're in a good location. Good luck with everything, unpacking, sorting, discarding, rearranging. I'll definitely stop by when I'm in the area.

I am so excited for you...and jealous (of the house, not really the unpacking or having a stinky, grouchy man in your house for 3 hours)!! And I am glad you have good neighbors. Good neighbors make all the difference in the world! Good Luck!
