S.California!!! The Beach

In August we took a fun, week long trip to Southern California. Poor Hannah was left behind because she is so hard in the car. (But she did get to play with cousins the whole time) We took Owen's cousin Matthew, so that Owen had a friend. Kristin also came with us. It was the perfect group, we're so glad they came with us.

After Church on Sunday we decided to go and see the beach. Owen made a straight line for the water and when I told him he couldn't get wet he pulled his shorts up as high as he could. I didn't realize how torturous it would be to tell him he couldn't swim when everyone else there was.
Matthew was hit by a high wave.

We did get the kites out and everyone had fun flying them.

The next day we went back, this time with swimsuits in hand.
Matthew spent a lot of time collecting shells.

I think these boys (only 5 yrs old remember) were trying to swim out to the lifeguard boat. I was a little nervous that they weren't nervous about being in waves up to their necks.

After swimming all day we had to drag the boys off the beach and we went to explore Balboa Pier. Which was quite easy to fall in love with. We ate pizza, saw some sea life, and then rode this cute Ferris wheel, which gave us spectacular views of the pier and beach.
We did go back another day, but I didn't take any pictures:) Can't wait to visit the beach again!!!

I'm glad it was warm for you in September. I'm waiting for your pictures from New York. Wish I could have met you up there, we are just that far away. As always you are very photogenic.
