What I've done so far...

First Goal: Get the garden going.
To do this I had to move the boxes. Which sounded quite simple, but ended up being a huge pain.
*I had to remove the all the dirt and put it on a tarp, then move the boxes out of way. When I was moving the boxes, two of them broke (grrrrr).
*Then I had to move two sprinklers, to do that I had to dig big holes, go buy the parts we needed, and then get Jeff to help me:)

*Then I put the soil back in and added some 8-8-8.

And then Jack was born! My cute little nephew. Born April 11th 2010.

Tomorrow a current picture of the garden!

Kindergarten Field trip

I was lucky enough to be able to go on Owen's Spring Field trip. This is the Place Heritage Park, here we come!
We're blue #3.

Livery and petting corral...

We were a little worried about the sheep that couldn't see.

The John Gardiner home. I wish I had this little army of 6-yr olds to help me with my chores.

Practice for milking the cow,

Washing the clothes,

Plowing the fields,

Beating the rug!

Samuel Jewkes/Henry Draper Home. We learned about turning wool into clothes.

After lunch the kids played on this train. Here the girls were chanting "We need more girls!" I love that Owen was one of the boys trying to break into their territory.

Do SOMETHING!!!

A few months ago I was outside and I realized I just needed to DO SOMETHING with our yard. I've made so many excuses: we aren't going to live here forever, we don't want to spend the money, and on and on. But I decided that doing something, anything, would be better than just wishing my yard was different. Here are some before pictures and if you want you can follow how things go.

See that bushy, brown thing? It was the shrub from %!#$. More on that later.
Here I'd started taking the garden boxes apart. When I first put them together (last year) I put them too close. I was trying to do some fancy terraced look, but it was impractical and I couldn't reach into the middle of the boxes.
Aren't those shrubs lovely?

HS Reunion

So I put a poll up and I want, no need, everyone to vote! I feel like going is not going to be worth it. I'm happy with my life, etc., why should I go see old friends and think about the old days? Plus it's $35 a person and I'll have to buy something new to wear. All to eat food I don't want to eat and impress people I don't really care about. Also I bet it's 99% females and if I was going to see anyone, I'd want to see my old crushes! But maybe it would be fun?

And who might you be?

always sitting by the heater vent...

cuddling with everyone...

hiding in all sorts of small places...

then taking up all the room on the couch...

wetting your whistle every chance you get...

making us laugh...

and there you go again, stealing the heater vent!

So now you've met Benny, our 6 month old ragdoll kitten. We've had him for 2 months and he's still the most exciting thing in the house. We love you!

she never stops talking!

Hannah:
"oh no! I lost the magic word."
"I want some potatoes, FOREVER!"
"Goofy says 'oh boy', I say 'oh boy' too!" (and she does all the time.)

December crazies

I love December and Christmas, but it is always so crazy. I really start to look forward to the lazy days of January. I feel like I'm on edge trying to stay sane. Yesterday I washed Jeff's nice work pen. The pen is ruined, as are all the clothes washed with it. I had to lock myself in my room and have a good cry (unfortunately my favorite skirt was involved). Just in case you too are experiencing a crazy day here are some of Hannah's sillys.

Hannah looking at Christmas lights: "look!!! So many flashlights!"

Looking at a pair of scissors "we can't cut ourselves or we will get open"

Only a 6-year-old

I saw this in Owen's room and thought 'Well that's a freaky monster taking over some nice person's home.'

But he explained to me: 'This is Mary(pointing to storm-trooper lego guy on the right), and this is Joseph (storm-trooper on left), and baby jesus (lego guy minus legs in orange thing).

And this is the angel (rock monster on the house).

There you have it, a 6-year-old Nativity.

cElebRaTE!!!!

To start Owen's birthday off right Jeff and I pulled out the old "decorate the door" tradition I grew up with.

For breakfast we finished decorating cupcakes for Owen class...and then we ate some.

I took Hannah to Build-A-Bear for her birthday and Owen waited all month to go. He even took some of his own money. He was so cute.

We love going downtown, and hung out at the fountain after build-a-bear.

The bear! Star Wars outfit and all! And what would be a trip downtown without a ride on TRAX.

We had a fun LEGO party on Saturday. It was fun to have all Owen's friends over and they had a blast. I put the camera away after it started, but here are some before shots.
